Welcome to the dog days of summer (see what I did there?). As I mentioned in my last update, we’re going to go a little quiet for the next few weeks so that we can crank up the fundraising full throttle near the end of August.
As it stands, the fundraising total is at a very respectable $600! Thanks, as always, to everyone who has donated so far. So the good news is we’re more than 1/2 way to our goal of $1000, but the bad news is that I’m running out of family and friends to hit up for donations! If you’re able to share the link (RideDogged.org) with your family and friends, we may be able to pick up a little extra money for the cause.
I’d like to pass along something from the animal shelter’s newsletter:
“June was the busiest month of 2018 so far with 60 adoptions (36 dogs, 20 cats, and five rabbits)! That’s roughly a third of our adoptable animals and that means that we’ve had lots of space available for new arrivals from puppy mills, public shelters, and private surrenders. ”
MLAR is a no-kill shelter, and when space opens up, they will often locate animals that are scheduled for euthanasia at another shelter and rescue them. So, in many cases, adopting an animal from MLAR means not only giving a new leash on life (I did it again!), but also rescues another animal at the same time.
As always, I greatly appreciate all of the fundraising support that Team Ride Dogged has received. I will update you again in a couple of weeks (with hopefully an announcement about a new Ride Dogged team member!), but until then stay cool and enjoy your summer.
